It does work for embroidery. Its just that I have all my designs programs on it where I do all my work. I wouldn't want to loose it all. Can understand about the modem. A CD drive and CD disk cleaner is a good investment. I installed win 98 se on it using my own cd. However there were some other problems apart from the cd rom. The usb function didnt work properly when I inserted a usb card reader containing a mb sd card It wouldnt read and write properly to the card. Also I couldnt get the infra red function to be installed , nor would the sound work. I have since installed win pro on it using a disk lent to me and everything is perfect.

However I would like to be able to ue my own win 98se disk to run windows 98se on it if this could be done. Those drivers-sometimes updated- are available by download from the support pages for your model. I have sold 3 3Cs and have another I am prepping.

In regard to the resource cd-please do you know what it contains that is not on the download page for the C win 98se. I might try to re-intsall win 98se because after I had installed it last time I installed other drivers before installing the chipset drivers.
